Liebe Edelbitter: Behind the scenes

This week, ZDF started filming the first scenes of the movie ‘Liebe Edelbitter’ at the ‘Brugs Vrije’, which is located in het left corner of the ‘Burg’. In the fim, ‘Brugs vrije’ will be a fictitious hotel with the name ‘Belle Etoile’ (beautifull star). In real life, this building is the administrative center of the city of Bruges.

Liebe Edelbitter: Sequel ‘Herz aus Schokolade’

This week, German Television Station ZDF, started filming a sequel to the very popular movie ‘Herz aus Schokolade’, starring star-actor Sky Du Mont. Working title of the movie is ‘LIebe Edelbitter’. The cast of this new film contains 9 German actors and also 9 Belgian actors. The filmcrew will film on different locations like: the belfry, the burg, hotel du Sablon, Pottenmakersstraat, Sint-Jacobskerk, AC ‘t Brugs Vrije, etc

Recently, I discovered this website: ‘beeldbank Brugge’ (Image bank Bruges), where you can find a collection of historical pictures of Bruges. There are some predefined topic-collections, but you can also search on keywords. Only one negative point: the website is currently only available in Dutch.

Best chocolate book 2009

Last month, Bruges famous chocolatier Dominique Persoone received an award for his book ‘The roots of Chocolate’ at the ‘Gourmand World Cookbook Awards’ in the category ‘Best Chocolate Book’. The Gourmand World Cookbook Awards were founded in 1995 by Edouard Cointreau. In 2008, books from 102 countries participated in these prestigious awards. It is free, and open to all languages

Aspe - Mord in Brügge

Sunday July 5th, German public television ZDF, started broadcasting the first episodes of ‘Aspe’, a Belgian crime-serie about bruges’ inspector ‘Van In’ and his team. This serie - already been broadcasted a couple of years on the Belgian and Dutch television - convinced 3.3 million Germans to watch. This Flemish whodunit are based on the books of Flemish author Pieter Aspe.
